Climate
Since Namibia is situated in the southern hemisphere, seasons are exactly opposed to the seasonal pattern of the northern hemisphere, in other words, mid-summer temperatures up to 40º C at year-end and cold nights in June, July and August with temperatures dropping to 0º C at night and mild, pleasant day temperatures between 20 - 25º C. The rainy season is from December until March-April.
With regard to clothing it is always best to pack a windbreaker, pullover, warm socks and good walking shoes. For the cold season it is advisable to wear wardrobe according to the “onion principle”, in other words, in layers which can be put on or off. Heat and sunscreen are an absolute MUST also during the Namibian winter since the sun is very strong and stinging the skin.
